Clinics in Shoulder and Elbow (CiSE) is an international, peer-reviewed journal indexed in both eSCI and Scopus, dedicated to advancing scientific excellence in shoulder and elbow surgery. In 2025, CiSE continued its strong upward trajectory, strengthening its global presence through rigorous editorial standards, expanding international collaboration, and meaningful scholarly impact.
Over the past five years, CiSE has demonstrated extraordinary citation growth—from 115 citations in 2021 to 561 citations in 2024, and reaching over 710 citations by November 2025, marking the fastest expansion in the journal’s history. International engagement continues to be one of the journal’s greatest strengths. Overseas authors now account for more than 83% of all published papers in 2025, representing a consistent increase from 71% in 2021. This reflects CiSE’s evolution into a truly global platform where high-quality clinical and basic research is exchanged across continents. At the same time, CiSE has further refined its editorial selectivity. The acceptance rate has decreased steadily—56.6% in 2022, 39.4% in 2023, 32.1% in 2024, and 28.5% in 2025—moving closer to our editorial target of maintaining a competitive acceptance rate below 30%.
CiSE’s commitment to global partnership has also expanded. Building on prior affiliations with the Malaysian Arthroscopy Society (MAS), Thai Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine (TOSSM), and Indonesian Orthopedic Society for Sport Medicine and Arthroscopy (IOSSMA), CiSE convened its first International Editorial Board Meeting during the 2025 Spring Congress. International board members from Türkiye and Japan participated, discussing strategic directions for global collaboration, international submissions, and the future role of CiSE as a regional academic hub—especially for Asian countries without their own dedicated sub-specialty journals.
In addition, CiSE successfully secured competitive funding from the National Research Foundation of Korea’s journal support program in 2025, enhancing its publishing infrastructure and enabling reinvestment into quality improvement, reviewer development, and digital dissemination. The journal also expanded its outreach via homepage banner partnerships and initiated preparations for social media channels—including Facebook, Instagram, and X—to further strengthen global visibility.
With continued citation growth, expanding international authorship, strengthened editorial policies including updated AI-ethics guidelines, and strategic engagement with global orthopedic societies, CiSE stands at the forefront of regional and international subspecialty publishing. The Editorial Board warmly invites researchers worldwide to submit their most impactful, innovative work to CiSE—where scientific excellence meets global recognition, and where the future of shoulder and elbow surgery continues to be shaped.
