Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, JSES has been affected as has everything in our world. JSES is an international journal, and many of our editors are based in countries that have been severely affected by the coronavirus. Several of them, with increased clinical workloads, and increased health care administrative responsibilities, have had to ask to be relieved of their editorial duties during this crisis. In addition, we realize that many of our reviewers are in similar situations and will be unable to review as many articles, and that this will make it difficult for us to obtain reviewers for the newly submitted articles. After discussion with our editorial and publishing team, we have made a temporary decision to switch to a one editor/one reviewer policy during this global threat. Our editors will provide a second review on the papers rather than trying to get extra reviewers, although because we have fewer editors at the moment, they will be stretched to their max. Pierre Mansat, Deputy International Editor, and myself will also switch back to Associate Editor roles to take up some of that slack and we will also try to add our own reviews, though they may be short. We assure you we will continue to give your submitted articles the care and fairness they deserve when making decision, but please bear with us during this unusual time of international crisis. Mostly, stay well, to all of you and your families. Bill Mallon, MD |
