My visit to the 51st Annual Meeting of Japan Shoulder Society in Kyoto

The 51st JSS meeting was held at Kyoto international conference center for 3 days from 24th to 26th. October on the Thema of “Cutting edge science for shoulder”. Kyoto is historical city and one of the best tour place in Japan like Kyung-ju in Korea, especially in autumn season.

I was invited as a guest speaker by Pf. Imai, Congress president for presenting 3 subject of shoulder arthroplasty. I and Korean guest attended at the presidential dinner at 24th held in Prince Kyoto Takaragaike hotel, and overseas guest dinner on 25th, and presented at the international symposium at 26th on October.

KSES was founded 1994. It was 20years delayed than JSS, nowadays both society share friendship and support each other for academic and international achievement. For me, it was an honorable second inviting chance from JSS. At the year of 2012, after Tsunami in Fukushima, I was invited at the 38th JSS Fukuoka meeting as a president of KSES invited by Pf. Shibata in Fukuoka university. It was first official presidential visiting program between KSES and JSS, and it might be a booming point of more close relationship for both countries including KSES-JSS traveling program (Pf. Jun-Gyo Moon, and Dr. Young-Min Noh, this year) and presenting papers to the both annual society congress by the society members.

This year the JSS Congress opened 9 rooms with English slide presentation, and international symposium was held in the main hall. Even though, many papers from KSS was presented, there were some difficulties to visit all the presentation because of too many rooms, and opened not only orthopaedic doctors but also paramedical participants.

There were many outstanding international guest speakers, Frank A Cordasco, Pascal Boileau, John Kircher, Bo Olsen, and Korean doctors including Yang-Su Kim, In- Ho Jeon, Sae Hoon Kim, and me. I presented 3 topics even though it was still not popular in Japan, RSA for displaced 2-part humeral neck fracture, Stemless RSA versus stemmed RSA Stemless, and RSA as a future perspective.

The global country changed rapidly during the periods of COVID19, and we could meet Pf. Young-Girl Rhee at the bridging JSS and APKASS meeting held in Hainan.

We congratulate the successful holding of the 51st annual meeting of the JSS in Kyoto, and we could share creative idea with humanity and support each other in the field of international shoulder society meeting.
