Clinics in Shoulder and Elbow (CiSE): A Model of Growth and Excellence in Shoulder and Elbow Research

 

The Clinics in Shoulder and Elbow (CiSE) has established itself as a prominent journal in the field of shoulder and elbow surgery through a consistent focus on scholarly excellence, global collaboration, and rigorous academic standards. Recent milestones reflect the journal's increasing influence and the quality of its contributions to research and clinical practice.
CiSE has demonstrated remarkable progress in its citation counts over the past five years, reflecting the growing impact of its published research. In 2020, the journal was cited 56 times. By 2021, the number of citations more than doubled to 115. This upward trajectory continued into 2022, when citations surged to 320, nearly tripling from the previous year. In 2023, the journal received 393 citations, and as of 2024, the citation count has already reached 486.

The global appeal of CiSE is evident in its authorship statistics, which show a clear trend of increasing international contributions. In 2021, domestic submissions accounted for 47% of published articles, while international submissions made up 53%. So far in 2024, domestic articles comprise 28%, with international articles continuing to dominate at 71%. These figures highlight CiSE's growing reputation as a truly global journal. With its sights set on full SCI inclusion, CiSE is poised to further enhance its influence in the shoulder and elbow surgery community.
